How this screen works

This quarter's results sorted into three growth bands, each against the same quarter last year: sales up 20% or more & profit up 30% or more; sales up 15% or more & profit up 25% or more; sales up 10% or more & profit up 20% or more. A result sits in the highest band it meets. Every band also needs a wider operating margin than a year ago. Only companies with a market cap of ₹500 crore or more, with profit from the business: a profit jump that operating profit does not share, or one carried by exceptional items, does not count, & a loss a year ago leaves no growth to measure. Banks, lenders & insurers are left out because operating margin does not describe their business. A band describes one quarter, not what comes next.

    What Nestle India does
Nestle India, the Indian arm of Switzerland's Nestle, makes Maggi noodles, Nescafe coffee, KitKat & Munch chocolates, Cerelac baby food & milk products. Its profit depends on volumes sold & the cost of milk, wheat, coffee, cocoa, sugar & edible oils.
    What is behind it

Sales rose 20.3% & EBITDA (operating profit) rose 31.8% to ₹1,619 crore, helped by double-digit volume growth across product groups. The company flagged rising inflation, especially for food: it expects coffee & wheat prices to stay in a range, said sugar & edible oils had stabilised at high levels, called cocoa volatile on weather worries & said milk prices had risen with the season.
