How this screen works

This quarter's results graded against the same quarter last year on sales, profit & operating margin. Blockbuster: sales up 20% or more & profit up 30% or more. Very strong: sales up 15% or more & profit up 25% or more. Strong: sales up 10% or more & profit up 20% or more. Every grade also needs a wider operating margin than a year ago. Only companies worth ₹500 crore or more, with profit from the business: a profit jump that operating profit does not share, or one carried by exceptional items, does not count, & a loss a year ago leaves no growth to grade. Banks, lenders & insurers are left out because operating margin does not describe their business. A grade describes one quarter, not what comes next.

Titan's April to June 2026 profit rose 62.9% to ₹1,777 crore on sales up 29.3%. About ₹407 crore of the gain came from a tax hike on imported gold in May, which lifted the value of gold Titan already held.

Titan's April to June profit rose 62.9% to ₹1,777 crore, & its margin rose 2.5 points to 13.5%, helped by a one-off gain on gold in stock.

    What Titan Company does
Titan is the Tata group company behind Tanishq, India's largest jewellery brand, along with Mia, Zoya & CaratLane. It also makes Titan, Fastrack & Sonata watches, runs Titan Eye+ optical stores & sells fragrances & Taneira sarees. Jewellery brings in close to nine-tenths of its income.
    What is behind it
In the April to June 2026 quarter (Q1 FY27), revenue rose to ₹21,356 crore from ₹16,523 crore & profit rose to ₹1,777 crore from ₹1,091 crore. The government raised customs duty (the tax on imports) on gold from 6% to 15% from 13 May 2026, which raised the value of gold Titan had already stocked: the company booked a ₹407 crore gain from this, according to its results presentation. Studded jewellery (pieces set with diamonds or gems, which earn more per rupee of sales than plain gold) made up 27% of domestic jewellery sales & grew about 34%, while average bill size rose about 31% with only about 5% more buyers. In its 6 October update for July to September, Titan said jewellery grew about 21%, & that demand softened towards the end of the quarter as buyers waited for the festive season.
    How big is it
Profit rose by ₹686 crore (₹1,777 crore minus ₹1,091 crore), & the ₹407 crore customs duty gain was about 59% of that increase. Without it, management put the jewellery EBIT margin (operating profit before interest & tax, as a share of sales) at about 11.7%, close to its usual level of about 11%.

Adani Power's margin rose 1.8 points to 42.1% as sales jumped 34% in April to June 2026, when record summer heat pushed up power demand.

    What Adani Power does
Adani Power is India's largest private thermal (coal-fired) power producer, with 18,330 MW of capacity. It sells electricity to state power distribution companies under long-term contracts & on power exchanges.
    What is behind it
Adani Power reported on 22 July 2026 that its power sales rose to 28.8 billion units from 24.6 billion as a severe summer lifted India's demand, with peak demand hitting a record 270.8 GW in May, according to IIFL. Prices on the power exchange also rose 15.7% to ₹5.1 a unit, & EBITDA margin (operating profit as a share of sales) improved from 40.3% to 42.1%. On 14 October the company said Uttarakhand Power Corporation gave it a letter of award (a formal notice that it won a tender, before the final contract is signed) to supply 1,234 MW of thermal power for 25 years; the tariff still needs approval from the state electricity regulator, according to Angel One. It also filed notice of an analyst meeting on 19 October.
    How big is it
The 1,234 MW deal equals about 6.7% of Adani Power's 18,330 MW of installed capacity. Quarterly profit of ₹4,867 crore against ₹18,902 crore of sales is about 25.7%.
